GOOD COMPANION DOG CLASS

This class covers a full range of basic exercises that test the dog’s temperament and obedience, as well as the handler’s knowledge about care, responsibility and legal requirements of dog ownership.

There are four levels to be worked through – from food and car manners to distance work and handlng of dogs by strangers. Dogs completing these four levels are considered to be able to show safe behaviour in public places.

This class also prepares handlers wishing to gain the New Zealand Kennel Club (NZKC) Canine Good Citizen qualifications. Some club members have gone on to do the NZKC qualifications.

CANINE FRIENDS PET THERAPY

CANINE FRIENDS PET THERAPY

CANINE FRIENDS PET THERAPY is a New Zealand wide network of people who share their friendly well behaves dogs with hospital patients and residents of hospices and rest homes.

Pet Therapy works on many levels to make unwell people feel reconnected to the world, eneregised, comforted and entertained by visiting dogs.

Patients, residents and staff look forward to the visits and thoroughly enjoy them. The touch of a dog usually sparks reminiscences and stories of loved pets and happier times.
